Mr. Lookabill:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for recommending the Oxylator EM 100 to our department as a resuscitation device. The following is a narrative of an incident in which this device was instrumental in the successful resuscitation of a patient.

On September 2, 1998 at approximately 2:00 PM we were dispatched to a possible electrocution. We responded on an ambulance with two personnel and requested the Fire Department to respond also. We arrived on the scene in approximately two minutes to find an approximately 50 year old male patient in cardiac arrest. Lay persons were attempting CPR.

My partner performed a "quick look" to find a rhythm of Ventricular Fibrillation. My partner defibrillated the patient 3 times without success. We immediately started CPR with the assistance of bystanders. I intubated the patient, confirmed lung sounds, and attached the Oxylator® EM-100. My partner initiated an IV and gave Epinephrine IV. The patient's rhythm remained in Ventricular Fibrillation. My partner again defibrillated the patient and his rhythm converted to a Normal Sinus Rhythm with palpable pulses.

While my partner was giving the patient additional medications and assessing him further I was able to prepare the patient for transport by placing a Cervical Collar on the patient and preparing the Spine Board. The Oxylator® EM-100 was ventilating the patient effectively the entire time.

The patient was subsequently transported to the hospital without undo delay, where he fully recovered from the incident.

Your product was instrumental in the process in that it did the work of one additional personnel that would have normally been occupied with ventilating the patient. This allowed me to free myself up and prepare the patient for transport without having to wait for additional personnel, saving the patient precious minutes in the field.

We are very satisfied with our purchase and with the performance of the Oxylator® EM-100.

Sincerely,
